Grade 11 Choices

Choice #1

The candy pastel drawing is a really interesting project, because oil pastel is not the tool that I would normally choose to use. The hard part of this project is to recreate the texture of different candies, especially the green crystal-like candy. The other challenge was the shadow, because it's hard to mix colours together with pastel. The drawing was chosen to be displayed in an Art Show at St. George's.

Choice #2

This year Collingwood offered an afterschool architecture program. A teacher from the West Vancouver Museum came to the art portable every Wednesday afterschool and taught some basics of architecture. We did two major projects during the ten classes. The first one is a group project to re-design and build a model of the Japanese city of Miyako that was damaged by the tsunami. The second one is an individual project to design a dwelling house for a family. I spent a lot of time on the model of the building, and I’m happy with the final product. This program gave me some insight into architecture, and got me considering architecture as a possible career path.

Choice #3

Instead of doing the third private reading, we did a visual journal on the novel 1984 by George Orwell. The journal is a lot of work compared to normal assignments, but it is more fun to me because I enjoy combining academic work with artistic work. I put a lot of effort into the project and tried to be creative at my best.
